famous hotel serves you with delightful Chinese delicacies.
“Bao Xaun” is a
Chinese word which means treasure house and there is no doubt that this
restaurant is a food treasure house. The restaurant officially opened 4 month
ago and already it stands out from rest of the Chinese eateries in the valley
with its variety of Chinese dishes on the menu.
At Bao Xaun, you get really comfortable really fast. The
place is warm, welcoming, casual and consistently packed with people who want a
great time. The dim lighting with Chinese music playing in the background setup
the perfect ambience . With 16 staff, this restaurant is open only from 12:30
to 2:30 in the afternoon and 7:00 to 11:00 in the evenings.
The restaurant offers
four different kinds of authentic Chinese cuisines – Cantonese, Yam Cha and Dim
Sums, Sichuan and Hunan. Among these cuisines, we had the Sichuan. Sichuan
cuisine holds a reputation for its variety of seasonings used, as each dish
requires different cooking methods. As the saying goes, 'one dish with one flavor,
with one hundred dishes come hundred flavor . Sichuan food is well-known for
its hot and spicy flavor, though it may sport sweet and sour flavors too. The
most commonly used spices you can find in most households and eateries are
"The Five Fragrances" which consist of fennel, pepper, aniseed,
cinnamon, and clove, chili and Sichuan pepper.
The food at Bao Xaun
will most certainly light your mouth and your appetite on fire. Delicacies like
Sichuan Crispy Chicken (diced chicken tossed with ginger, garlic, dry chili,
Sichuan pepper-corn, nuts, and spring onion and sesame seeds) and Crispy
Aromatic Duck (Chinese herbs simmered pot roast duck seasoned with Hakka,
Sichuan aromatic seasoning) are an absolute delight to your palate. One should
also not miss the Chicken Garlic Chives Steamed Dumpling (traditional Chinese
seasoning marinated minced chicken, garlic and chives wrapped in homemade
dough) served here.
On the non-vegetarian
side, delicacies like Sichuan Wonton Soup (Sichuan vegetarian wonton in spicy
oriental broth) and Stir Fried Exotic Vegetables with Black Pepper Sauce
(exotic vegetables tossed in butter garlic, black pepper and soy sauce) are
very delicious. Clay Pot Seasonal Vegetable (seasonal vegetables with Sichuan
pickles chili) is no less delicious and is very tasty.
The food here is so
satisfying that you’ll probably forget it’s not your “typical” fare. Until you
walk out the door, after eating a ridiculous amount, actually feeling pretty
